Holistic and Alternative Treatments

Holistic Treatments

Holistic Healing

It is a form of healing that considers the whole person — body, mind, spirit, and emotions — in the quest for optimal health and wellness. According to the holistic medicine philosophy, one can achieve optimal health — the primary goal of holistic medicine practice — by gaining proper balance in life. Holistic medicine practitioners believe that the whole person is made up of interdependent parts and if one part is not working properly, all the other parts will be affected. In this way, if people have imbalances (physical, emotional, or spiritual) in their lives, it can negatively affect their overall health.

Holistic medicine is also based on the belief that unconditional love and support is the most powerful healer and a person is ultimately responsible for his or her own health and well-being. Other principles of holistic medicine include the following: you have to respect yourself and all the other human creatures, your natural environment, our planet, being able to tolerate indifference, showing forgiveness towards everyone which will enable you to feel utter inner peace.

Reiki - Alternative treatments

Reiki

Reiki is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It has been proved especially effective at posttraumatic healing, releasing energy blocks, unwanted bad habits, achieving inner peace and harmony.

Ear Candle - Alternative treatments

Hopi Ear Candle

Ear candle is a very simple, natural healing method. As the candle burns, the sound from the flame creates a vibration that travels through the candle and penetrates the ear drum, which in turn vibrates the small bones of the inner ear and creates a ‘massaging’ effect.  The vibration pushes further on into the Eustachian tubes and sinuses helping to release any blocked pressure.

The warmth from the candle along with the herbal oils and the vibration helps to soften and break up any earwax or mucus that may be blocking the tubes and sinuses; once broken down, the body finds it much easier to flush this waste through the lymphatic system.

The treatment is therefore detoxifying, ear candles can help with the treatment of sinusitis, rhinitis, earwax, earache and irritation of the ears including tinnitus.  They can also be beneficial for the treatment of headaches and migraines, and have been known to give relief to hay-fever sufferers, can ease certain types of inflammation.

Kinesio Tape - Alternative treatments

Kinesio tape

Kinesio Tex Tape was created and developed by Kenzo Kase, a Japanese doctor and chiropractor in 1970’s.These elastic tapes applied on the skin surface could reduce the recovery time after injuries and relieve pain as well.

How does it work?

The Kinesio Taping Method is felt to cause physiological effects on several body systems. The systems affected by the body are thought to include the circulatory/lymphatic, neural, muscular, and fascial systems, as well as the joints. Kinesio Taping is currently being used by therapists to change muscle tone, move lymphatic fluids, correct movement patterns, and improve posture.
